Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards 2026 Lights Up Lagos With Big Wins and Historic Moments
The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards 2026 took center stage in Lagos on May 9, 2026, bringing together some of the biggest stars in African film, television, and digital entertainment.
Hosted at the glamorous Eko Hotel and Suites, the annual award ceremony celebrated excellence across Nollywood and the African entertainment industry, with emotional speeches, stunning fashion moments, and unforgettable victories dominating the night.
The biggest winner of the evening was the acclaimed movie My Father's Shadow, which secured the prestigious Best Movie award and continued its remarkable international success story.
The film also earned recognition for Best Director, awarded to Akinola Davies Jr., making it one of the most celebrated productions of the night.
Actor Uzor Arukwe won Best Lead Actor for his outstanding performance in Colours of Fire, while Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman made history with a double victory.
She claimed Best Lead Actress for The Serpent's Gift and also secured Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Herd. Her achievement became one of the most talked-about highlights of the ceremony.
Another emotional moment came when Bucci Franklin won Best Supporting Actor for To Kill a Monkey. Meanwhile, Lateef Adedimeji earned the Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) award for Lisabi and dedicated the award to his wife, creating one of the evening’s most heartfelt scenes.
Veteran Nollywood icons Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo were also honored with the prestigious Industry Merit Awards for their long-standing contributions to African cinema.
